signet test · tokens here are test assets with no value; at the mainnet launch, alpha commanders' names, histories and ratings carry across, and alpha pass earners' units too (what carries across)
A unit kept from rated matches can be minted. It then becomes a Counterparty subasset on Bitcoin, HEXTREK.U followed by a six-character code, held in the player's own wallet. Each is one of one: a quantity of 1, indivisible, its supply locked. Its issuance points at a metadata document on this site, /meta/<code>.json. Whoever holds the token commands the unit in the game; a unit that changes hands while it is in a match passes to the new holder when the match ends.
That document has two parts. The certificate is the unit as it was at mint: its type, rank, XP, upgrades, callsign, emblem, paint and record. It never changes, and its hash is written on chain, in the memo of the send that delivered the unit to its first holder. The live record is the unit now, its rank, XP, renames and record after each match, kept up to date by the game and signed by the minter, at no Bitcoin cost. On a unit's page, Verified means one thing only: the certificate served here hashes to the anchor recorded on chain. The live record is the game's own word on the unit and is never called verified.
The parent asset, HEXTREK, is locked at a supply of one and never leaves its issuing address. Units are not created at the moment of minting: blank units, each already named and locked, are issued from that address in batches and handed to the game's minter, which never holds the parent or the key that issued them. When a mint goes through, the minter sends one blank to the player's wallet with the certificate's anchor in the send's memo, and from then on the token is the player's.

HEXBITS is the game token of HEXTREK. It is spent on minting units and renaming minted ones, and, once they open, on upgrades, rebuilds and paid customisations. It is launching on xcp.fun; no date yet. Until then the site runs on signet, where HEXBITS is a test asset with no value.
For now, minting runs on signet, Bitcoin's public test network, and the hangar, online and unit pages carry a "signet test" label. Tokens there are test assets with no value. Every alpha commander keeps their commander name, match history and an alpha participant badge on mainnet, and their rating carries across, eased halfway back towards the starting rating. Commanders who earn HEXTREK.ALPHATEST keep their full rating, and also keep their units, with their ranks, XP and perks; their units minted on signet are re-issued on mainnet free at the launch, to the mainnet form of the same wallet, with their alpha origin recorded in the certificate. Every other signet token stays in its signet wallet as a keepsake. Records from bugs or farming are voided. Horizon Wallet is the wallet that works on signet; XCP Wallet is mainnet-only.
